Psalm 150 — Let’s Lift God on High

1 Praise ye the LORD.
Praise God in his sanctuary:
Praise him in the firmament of his power.
2 Praise him for his mighty acts:
Praise him according to his excellent greatness.
3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet:
Praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance:
Praise him with stringed instruments and the pipe.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals:
Praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD.
Praise ye the LORD.

When we praise God we lift him, in our hearts and minds, to his proper place and position. Whether we mean to or no, our view of God often deflates and diminishes. We get wrapped up in our Now and begin to forget the Eternal Divine. When our present plight takes center stage we've removed God from his proper place.

May this cease to be! May we ever praise our Lord and God. We praise him in the sanctuary, the special place set apart for him. This place is described by New Testament writers to be his sanctified people!

We praise him in the firmament of his power. We look not to the stars for guidance. Instead, we look to the one with the power and strength to direct and guide the stars themselves.

We praise God for his mighty acts. We do this by reading the stories of his works and words. As we read how he healed and delivered, we grow in our excitement for such a wonderful creator and counselor.

We praise God, then, with all our being and with all our heart. We reach out with our talents and abilities working to create and speak our hearts' fill of our wonderful Lord. We praise God with all our might - with all our breath - with everything that draws breath.

Let us praise the Lord!
